Aline Bennett

Aline Bennett leads WSP Canada’s national Climate Risk & Resilience practice, managing a multidisciplinary team of roughly 25 scientists, engineers, and planners dedicated to delivering climate adaptation and resilience services across the country. With over 14 years of professional experience, she has been instrumental in establishing climate resilience as a core strategic advisory service within Canada’s engineering sector, guiding municipalities, Indigenous communities, government agencies, and private investors through complex risk assessments and long-term adaptation planning.

Holding a Master of Applied Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Bioresource Engineering from McGill University, Aline holds credentials as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Project Management Professional (PMP), and Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR) certified professional. Her technical expertise spans ISO 31000, ISO 14091, PIEVC, and climate lens methodologies. Notably, she served as the Lead Author of the Engineers & Geoscientists BC One Water System Risk Management Guidelines—a decade-long project developed alongside the BC Ministry of Health that earned both a Water Canada Award and a WSP Project Excellence Award for pioneering a comprehensive enterprise risk management approach for water systems.

Beyond her project leadership, Aline is deeply committed to mentoring emerging leaders and advancing diversity in engineering. She founded the Water & Environment Student Talks (WEST) Conference at UBC, an initiative now in its 12th year that connects students, researchers, and industry practitioners. She actively supports WSP’s Developing Professionals Network and participates in organizations like the Advancing Women in Engineering & Technology Committee. Through her technical vision, collaborative approach, and dedication to talent development, Aline continues to help shape the future of resilient infrastructure across Canada.
